CPE designs and manufactures a range of agitators to meet the widest range of agitation requirements, precisely and economically. They are ideally suited for both batch and continuous applications such as:
- Blending of two or more miscible liquids.
- Complete motion of a liquid to maintain uniformity and prevent phase stratification.
- Promote heat exchange where temperature control is desired.
- Solids suspension and solids dissolving
- Contacting operations such as gas dispersion and immiscible liquid agitation.
Types of Agitators
Various agitation configurations can be offered including:
- Clamp-on portable with swivel or socket plate mount.
- Fixed mount top entering with inline or right-angled drive.
- Side entering, with shaft retract system, for seal replacement without emptying the tank contents.
- Bottom entering.
- Special purpose including dual speed counter rotating.
Agitators can be supplied with lip, hydraulic, stuffing box or mechanical seal options. Numerous wetted parts of construction are available including 316 Stainless Steel, Hastelloy, Titanium, Monel, rubber, plastic or special coatings.
Impellers
Impeller selection is based upon the predominant flow pattern and fluid shear required by the process. Since most mixing applications are flow control problems, a high efficiency axial flow hydrofoil will provide the most cost effective solution.
Available impeller types include Rushton Disc, Helix, Anchor and propeller. However, the RTF4 Hydrofoil is the most efficient impeller in the market today.
RTF4 Hydrofoil
The ChemPlant RTF4 hydrofoil is world-leading technology. The RTF4 impeller was hydrodynamically developed to reduce power consumption by maximizing flow and minimizing turbulence or shear. Turbulence at the impeller gives no flow but does consume power. The RTF4 hydrofoil transfers the available energy into pure axial flow without turbulence at the impeller.
Due to a low power number, retrofitting with our RTF4 hydrofoil can increase the agitation intensity and agitator service factor whilst retaining the existing drive assembly.
The RTF4 hydrofoil achieves its high efficiency in three ways:
- Increasing Width The RTF4 blade is slim at the tip where the speed is greatest and wider at the base where the speed is lowest. This results in uniform, flow across the impeller diameter.
- The Twist The twist in the RTF4 blade is evenly decreasing from the inner hub out toward the tip. The twist is carefully proportioned to avoid turbulence anywhere on the blade.
- The Arch The key to high pumping is the arch, or radius, which is geometrically shaped to provide a low angle of attack at the leading edge to direct powerful currents downward.
Our High Efficiency RTF4 Hydrofoil has been used to retrofit existing agitators, which were inefficient due to the following:
- Undersized agitator, resulting in low solids suspension.
- Changes in slurry characteristics, resulting in motor overloading.
- Mechanical failure due to low service factors in the design of gear reducers and shaft/impeller assembly.
Due to a low power number, retrofitting with our RTF4 hydrofoil can increase the agitation intensity and agitator service factor whilst retaining the existing drive assembly.

CM6 Gas Dispersion Impeller
The CM6 impeller has been designed and manufactured to provide optimum gas dispersion in a variety of applications. The CM6 is not limited to only gas dispersion applications but also heavy-duty solids suspension where impeller wear is a limiting factor.
Recommended applications for the CM6 include fermentation, mineral sands aeration, gold CIP leaching, nickel hydrogen reduction and pressure oxidation process in autoclaves.
Product range and impeller configurations vary depending on process and application and can include a variety of drive, seal and mounting options. Typical fluid agitation applications include:
- Portable Agitators Portable agitators are used for smaller applications where the flexibility of a clamp on arrangement is required. They are available in a number of configurations depending on customer requirements.

- Side Entry Agitators Our range of high efficiency, side entry agitators provide a very flexible and cost effective method of agitating larger tanks. They have been used extensively in the wine industry to reduce power consumption and maximize efficiency.

High Shear Mixing The ChemPlant Rotosolver is the ultimate high shear mixer that is used in applications as diverse as dispersing, dissolving, emulsifying or homogenizing. The Rotosolver optimizes the balance between shear rates, particle size reduction and circulation with in your tank.

GL Nozzle
Chemical Plant & Engineering Pty. Ltd has developed in conjunction with CSIRO a Gas Liquid (GL) nozzle to provide enhanced gas to liquid mass transfer in liquid or slurry processes where dissolved gas is required. The technology can be used either as an independent aeration unit or as an add-on unit to existing gas-sparging tanks stirred by an agitator.
Applications include:
- Addition of oxygen or air to gold leach slurries
- pH control using CO2
- Aeration of biological reactors (when used with CPE jet mixing system)
Static Mixers
The Chemplant Inline Mixer is geometrically shaped to provide predictable, repeatable and rapid mixing results within a pipeline. The inline mixer will blend, disperse, react or shear two or more fluids within short lengths of piping. To achieve these results, the mixer relies partly or wholly on the principals of radial eddying, flow division, and shear reversal. These transport phenomena combine to eliminate concentration, velocity, and thermal gradients in a plug flow fashion without losses in back mixing.
The inline static mixer can be used for many applications
- Liquid-Liquid Blending
- Liquid-Liquid Dispersion
- Gas-Liquid Gas Blending
- Heat Transfer
- Thermal Homogenization
The static mixer can be supplied with removable, sanitary or special element designs. Injectors and sparge systems are optional, as are jacketed units for heating and cooling. Shell and tube designs are engineered for viscous heat transfer problems.
Static mixer are available in a wide range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, Monel, Hastelloy, PVC, FRP, ceramic, Teflon and a variety of other special alloys.
